Bugatti Veyron in the flesh

I called in the VW factory up in Wolfsburg, and being the ultimate 'end owners' of Bugatti they had a display building with just one car in it! The Veyron.

It is really more like art then just a car. Gawd knows how much the building around it cost, let alone the price of the car. It was all silver, so a bit hard to see properly in the photos, but a really stunning exhibit.

I thought about going to the Mercedes factory (I have a 280CE W123 which I love) but it didn't fit with my meanderings. Stuttgart I presume....

as good as they are, id prefer a Mc f1LM or even a F40LM.....

great to be there and see it though. did you do any of the other factory stuff?

Didn't go inside the factory, but just to their "Experience" centre, which showcased a of of the end products, includuing Lamborghini and Audi (and yes, even Skoda...).

I got to see the twin towers of cars ready for delivery, which is a computerised storage system for finished cars. You turn up to pick up your car, and a computerised "picker" goes to the right floor and automatically pulls it out to the lift and brings it down for you. Extremely neat!!

Does this line from that article mean what I think it means?

During this time the owner was able to call upon the original engine and two spare units, deploying them on a rotational basis 11 times in total.

If I have read it correctly, it sound a bit like grandfather's axe; two new heads and five new handles.

Mine's got 260,000KMs on it, but I only have one engine.....

Hardly think it could be called a Grandfather's Axe. It's still around 1,520,000 km per engine.

My 300D had 500,000 on it and the auto was like new, far better than the 4HP22 in my D1 which has exactly half the mileage. I don't expect the bodyshell or powertrain of a Land Rover to do 4,600,000 km, except in perhaps the case of an Isuzu, but that's not a Land Rover engine, its Japanese and I'm sure there'd be several LT95 rebuilds in that time.

*EDIT even 11 rotations is around 418,000 km per engine before any work.

I mean, the bugatti is fancy and all that but all the electronics! It will never cross a river like my Isuzu 110! :angel:

But your Isuzu powered Landy wouldnt skip across a salt lake like a pebble.
The Veyeron does,some pleb in the USA proved it recently:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:
