Well folks laid eyes on me defer today 3 little things I picked up were;

door skins look as if they ever so slightly pull inwards

2 chips on one door hinge have been touched up with correct paint but it's no were near as thick paint so sticks out a little

screws holding hinges on are a little rusty in the center of some and some long bolts on the diff etc show some rust on the protruding thread part

other than that I'm in love with it my ? Is what is normal of the above, actually doors pulling in does not so much bother me as much as the chip on hinges. Do other pumas exhibit these things let me know what should slide and what should be checked out.

My rig is at the tray builders so I will organise pics when I get it back.

Did I mention I'm in love with it? There was hilux getting a tray done there too and it looked soft in comparison to the defender no WAY near as heavy duty it made me feel I'll looking at it and I am SO happy I opted for the defer

Some answers....

1. Doors - If they open and close, they are probably OK! Hand made vehicle - all a bit different. Take a look at some other vehicles and try to gauge what is about "normal" - or post some picks and we can all comment from a more informed position.

You have 3 years to get it sorted under warranty - and these are the sorts of issues that may need addressing.

2. Chips on door hinge - pretty common - I've seen a few new ones like that - mine had same - dealer just used touch up paint, gave me some - I added my touch up and it's still all good.

3. Rusty bolts here and there - I didn't have this issue, but I'd fix this myself - clean up with rust converter and hit them with lanolin, fish oil or whatever you prefer. Otherwise, get the dealer to fix that under warranty.

In summary - hand made vehicles are all a little bit different and will have imperfections as you have noticed. As long as everything is functional it is likely OK. But if anything bugs you too much - use your warranty and get issues addressed.

Glad to hear you have met your Defy. :)

I recently noticed that door skins on my puma 130 are also pulled in slightly, sort of bellow the handle, so I guess this is normal.
I still love it.

My door skins are pretty wobbly as are many other panels which don't bother me at all. I don't know another car that soaks up dents and dings like a defender without changing its appearence much. :D
