Motorola phone question

Hi all,

Bought an unlocked V9x to replace a sad Telstra one. New one runs GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 3G HSDPA 1900 but NOT the Telstra Next G 850 band.

Question is: Can this be changed via software change or is it a hardware issue?

Just for info............

Swapped the PCB's between the two phones and both work fine so I now have what I originally wanted........ a new NextG V9 (and now more knowledge about mobile frequencies than I needed :D )
