The heater blower in my county is pretty tired. Brushes are worn right down, and the commutator is looking a bit sad. Need to get it going for RWC.

What are the my options to get a working blower. Do I stuff around and get new brushes and tidy up the commutator, or just replace the motor?
Is it worthwhile chasing a second hand one, or are they all had it.

Are there alternative motors from other vehicles (LR or non-LR) that can be easily fitted? I'm happy to make up mounting brackets/plates if it means getting a decent blower without spending a fortune.

The fan itself has a sort of split end on the plastic center (like a collet), and a spring steel part that clamps that onto the shaft.
In saying that, after removing the clip I still cant remove it - presumably the shaft has rusted a bit and expanded into the plastic.

Theres a good chance that mine isn't the standard county one as it has a S3 heater box fitted. Blower is a Smiths unit.
