Hey guys,

I'm looking for a soft tonneau for my 130 stock tub

I currently have a hard canopy but plan to sell that, and eventually have a soft canopy made up, in the mean time, are there any relatively cheap/available soft covers?

are there any sort of generic covers I could pick up from say repco/autobarn,
alternatively if I needed to could I use a heavy duty tarp with elastics in the eyelits?

cheers

You need to find a canvas maker/upholsterer to make one up for you.
AFAIK there isn't anything off the shelf available. (but i could be wrong)

what about a quality tub top like mine forget the soft gayness of upholstered quilted canvas lol
Built by a boat fabricator west coast marine here in Perth the welds are simply beautiful it has a ladder frame underneath, is completeley removable,
And gives great security

Mate,

You could try Exmoor Trim online - they're in England but with the exchange rate at the moment you might be in luck.

I've taken a look at the Exmoor Trim / All Wheel Trim hoods, and while I'm interested in one, the freight quotes on getting these across are at $450-550 which I feel is ridiculous, I'll see if I can find a cheaper method of getting one to my door.

The other alternative I'm somewhat interested in are these roll-up covers (e.g. Truck Bed Covers (http://shop.agricover.com/do/category/CapacityTruckBedCovers))

Considering I'm going to be using the tray to move a motorbike around occasionally, a roll up cover might be more suitable than having to remove all the hood sticks etc ...

Has anyone seen ones suitable for a defender / know someone who's had one made?

Hi,

I had one made up a few years ago. I am, in the main, very happy with it.

One thing to watch is that it is made to your requirements, and that the requirements are clearly understood by the maker.

I wanted to be able to drive around with the sides and/or back rolled up a la bush tucker man. The maker nodded his head, and the inability only became apparent a few weeks and thousands of k's later.

Side zippers front and rear both sides are the go, as is zippers at the back. I also wanted a flap over the back window on the inside, but he put it on the outside. Which defeated the purpose of preventing people peeping in.... Still, nothing stolen in four years

Probably don't worry about clears, except maybe at the front, to be able to check in the back from cabin.

Also, I had to explain the holding down arrangement at the front - if it fitted to your tub.

I think mine was quoted at $700, and my "extras" added $200. The material is heavy duty vinyl, like used on taughtliners, called "ricky ripstop", and it is pretty darn tough.

Cheers,

Andy

I was quoted around $1200 for one with side and rear zips, so in the end i bought one from Exmoor Trim 220 Uk pounds, shipping was 60 with fedex but that included seat lifters, however it was a terrible hood, i opted for canvas, which came without side and rear zips, the steel, eyelets, that the ill fitting rope went through, rubbed on the paint work, and its not a perfect fit, after many emails, phone calls, exmoor have now supplied me with a Mohair hood FOC, 450 uk retail, i am told its a better hood, however regardless of the issues with the hood, there customer service is very poor.....

Hi,

I did forget to mention, the vinyl and bungy loop fittings will wear the paint on the tub. I got a roll of white 100 mile an hour tape, and split it so there were two layers at the side of the top rail. That seemed to do the trick, and is hidden when sides are down, and hardly noticeable when they are up.
