Hi
Do i need high tensel bolts for the spacer or are the ones that
are recommended, which are not high tensel all righ use.

I used some socket head cap screws for the top 2 bolts and some high tensile threaded rod for the bottom 2,just make sure you torque them up.

Don't post the same question in multiple areas.

You can't (easily) find HT bolts off the shelf long enough to do two of the main housing bolts. I bought a length of M10 x 1.25 threaded HT rod and cut what I needed (take a credit card when you buy the HT rod)
I cut the two rods at 203mm and 175mm, allowing for a 50mm spacer block. The other two bolts were 80mm long. I used Loctite retaining compound on the rods where they screwed into the engine block.
The two bolts in the top spacer, at the oil cooler, were M8 x 1.25 x 100mm.
I'm not sure what thickness the factory spacer blocks are, but if I had my time again, I would make them 60mm instead of 50mm, so allow the length in the bolts and rods to suit your spacer block thickness.
And yes, the rod / bolts need to be high tensile.

Hi
The factory one is 60ml. How tight did you do them up.

Yup,
High tensile booker rods, sizes as per Murray's post. According to the manual, the M10's should be torqued up to 38.3 +/- 7.2 lb.ft. I did mine up to 45. No recommendation for the M8, but I only torqued up to 25 foot pounds as they screw into an alloy oil cooler housing. Both top and bottom nuts have spring washers.
My spacer is 60mm (sort of) - the housing I have is offset, so 60 mm bottom spacer and 56mm top spacer. Pics below:

How important is a spacer? It looks like the filter assembley is far enough from the front prop shaft.

The spacer is essential - the prop shaft can hit the main filter on full suspension compression if the spacers are not fitted.

I had to make up a few of the top oil spacers, so I made a batch. 60mm thick out of Aluminium.
Have a couple left if anyone is looking....

Whilst on topic is there any chance someone can post in detail about the hole that needs to be placed in the block along with a pic ?

You can get the idea from this pic. The flow through the bypass filter isn't high so the diameter of the drain hole isn't critical.

Thanks John I had my suspicion it was there that the hole needed to go just by inspecting the filter housing but just need to make 100% sure before I go drill a hole in the block...I was thinking about a 12mm hole ??

Just a heads up. On Offender90's and my blocks we found that the top spacer needed to be ~4 mm thinner than the bottom spacer.
You can see in Bojan's pics that the bottom spacer is 5x12 mm steel = 60 mm. The top spacer is 4x12 mm, and an outermost platen which has been filed down from 12 mm to about 8 mm = ~56 mm.
It was lots of hard work on Bojan's part as we found out the hard way! I instead used 4x12 mm and made some extra plates out of thin aluminium to get to 56 mm.

If you have a truck block then this likely won't be the case.

Good info!
Given the truck engine I have here with the standard truck filter, if the bottom is spaced out 60mm then the top will be too on truck stuff.
