Hi All,
Long time reader on this site but first time on the forum. Reason being I finally have a meaningful reason for being here. I'm about to start a restoration of a 1969 Series IIA diesel. As a complete first-timer I expect it will take up a great deal of time - and money - but am looking forward to the challenge. Any tips/advice/do's/dont's as I progress will be much appreciated.
Cheers

Looks like you have a reasonable base to start from. Look forward to seeing progress reports!

Thanks John, the car was originally a petrol, converted in '78 to a diesel. Came with about 3 cubic metres of tools and spares (many Land Rover originals in original packaging); a spare complete motor, diffs, drive shafts and all sorts of stuff. First task is to figure out and catalogue all what's there!

What condition is the firewall in?
She looks to be in good nick.

Firewall and Chassis appear to be rust free. There's a fair bit of oil and grime on the chassis and I haven't had a day to devote to to tackling a clean-up of the thing yet but I do know it's been garaged for it's entire life and was a true 'one owner'.

A SWB Station Wagon - nice! :D
I have only ever seen one of these (in a paddock - alas it has gone to scrap now) before...
What is your chassis number? Is it a home market (ie: UK) vehicle or a CKD export model?
