View Full Version : Flickering Brake Warning Light

The dash light has adopted a most annoying habit of flickering on briefly or sometimes staying on for a short while.

Checked brake fluid .. no probs.
Checked h/brake fully disengaged .. no probs.

Any tips ?? Possibly dodgy switch ??

Last time I had it the brake fluid was low. I swore it wasn't, but the sensor swore it was.

It won.

Fill 'er up.;)

Seconded! I had the same problem.

Fill the reservoir to the top mark. A level between the 2 guide marks is probably not good enough for the sensor.

Thanks chaps

I'll check and top-up. That was the obvious choice but it seemed quite OK.

I'll give it a sip anyway.

I'll 3rd this - mine did it too - when the fluid was well between low and high - only stops when you fill it right up to the full mark. Mine did it only when going down steep hills too - guess the sensor is at the back of the reservoir.

And a 4th vote, I found the flickering was more frequent with the nose downhill.

G'day Everone,

Check your handbrake, their is a small micro switch on the brake under the rubber boot. Mine did this and it needs replacing.

well there ya go mine started doing this yesterday and got really down to it on the way home tonight.
I disturbed the sensor by checking the level the weekend .

I had the same problem and it was the sensor sticking, I cured this by taking it out and cleaning it with petrol, leaving it to dry and then put it back in, and there has been no problems since.

Thanks Mark
