View Full Version : Something isn't right after Q093

I have just had Q093 done. My D4 has lost a heap of low down punch. It feels like it is not producing enough boost. Has anyone else had this happen?

I will be talking to the dealer in the morning.

Sounds strange mowog. Had mine done Tuesday and if anything, it seem to have more down low???????????

The timing of this issue is really bad. Next week I am about to take off on a road trip with the van attached.

Its so bad even the wife noticed it when she drove it.

Good to hear, hopefully they can fix the issue asap.

A word to the wise (more a reminder) - Never service your vehicle the week before a big trip. Never modify the vehicle a week before the trip..

Try to get it done a fortnight or more before hand.. This allows time for gremlins to appear and be rectified before you leave....

The service was done on the 1st so we were almost 2 weeks ahead.

I drove home in peak hour traffic so I didn't get a chance to give it a run. My wife was the first to notice how bad it was late yesterday.

Its sad to say in the last 15 years I have only owned one new car that never needed to got back for rectification after a service. That car was a Toyota Starlet....!!!!

The Mini Cooper D I own hasn't needed a service yet so the Jury is out on that one.

Clearly there are serious issues in Dealer Service departments.

Ok so the D4 had its visit to the dealer. No surprise in that they couldn't find a fault. The condition must be contagious as another D4 was in there with the same problem?

However...

It seems to have its zing back?

My take on this is they found the pipe they left loose!!!

Hi mowog, yes that loose pipe that they don't tell you about.
Good to hear that you have the 'zing' back for the trip.
Have a good one

The problem was they put the hose from the turbo to the engine on in the wrong order. You MUST put the turbo end on first THEN the engine or the airflow is impeded ;)

Interesting how often have you heard about that happening?

Well, I could say I heard it from a mate of a mate who's girlfreinds brother who was in the same class as a guy who became a mechanic, or I could just admit I made it up on the spot!

Given the problem you had, I'm guessing they flashed the computers again and that 'fixed' the problem. Computers can be like that I've noticed, do a software upgrade, have issues, rerun the install and it all works without showing an error message the first time.

My D4 (2.7, Jan 2010 build) is in for some rattles to be fixed, and to have the 'gearbox fault' checked (orange triangle twice now when starting), and they will see if I need the Q093 done.

It sounded like rubbish to me. I couldn't think of any hose being described as going from the turbo to the engine without even thinking about the wrong end first bit!

I was in a mood and couldn't help myself. I guess it's along the lines of the left handed screwdriver thing.

I've been thinking about what might cause the issue Mowog mentioned after the computer update, and honestly can't think of anything it might be. If it was a missing hose, it would probably not have run at all given the sensors on vehicles these days or popped up an engine fault light. It may have needed a master reboot to settle things - as I said earlier, I've had strange things with adding bits/software to computers where a reload of the software was needed, and have had reboots do nothing where a shutdown/wait a few minutes/turn on have worked a treat.

On another note, I've got the D4 in to have a couple of things looked at: A loud rattle in the rear that COULD be the blanking panel I have instead of the 3rd row of seats (D4 2.7 with no need for the extra's), a systems check as I've had a 'gearbox fault' twice (only an orange triangle that goes away with a stop/start of the engine) and a broken seat height adjuster (delivered that way, just waited to take it back). Here's hoping I don't need too much done, but they are giving me a loaner Freelander2 for the day which is nice.
