There is one out of Stanley that goes down over the arther river and beyond, how long are you in the state for, A few of us are heading to the east coast next weekend and quite happy to pick you up. I may have a quite day on wednesday and if that is the case and you can get to smithton I am happy to take you for a trip down around the arther river and beyond
cheers

If you don't mind parting with (quite) a few $$, There's the Piners and Miners Tour out of Strahan. See PINERS AND MINERS EXPERIENCE, GOURMET, FOOD & BEVERAGE TASTING, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA (http://www.australianexplorer.com/experiences/TFG211/profile.htm)

Not really a 4WD tour but at least you ride in a stretched, railroad friendly Defender, see some great scenery and travel the ABT railway.
