How often do you tighten your nuts :)

Hi Guys

Been adjusting doors and having a general tidy up on the deefer.

I am amazed at how many nuts and bolts were loose! nearly every single 10mm and 13mm head turned easily including roof bolts, tub bolts and even seatbelt brackets! they werent rattlingly loose but still easy to turn. (i also have the headlining out which is why i started the roof bolts!)

probably where i have had a few of my leaks...

Question is.. have you guys found this? if so how often do you go round tightening them?

With an Isuzu 110, it's a daily requirement!

I had the front passenger door come loose last year after a smash repair a month before, but I think I will fill my holidays going over the Defender with a spanner and a tube of sealant.

random intervals whenever Im holding the right size spanner and think of it.

In the event that I find one I generally take off the offending items fittings and re assemble with a little loctite 222 screw lock.

In the event that its someones car that I dont like I just tighten it up and drop on some 290....

I have tightened every visible nut and bolt both inside and outside the vehicle although engine and gearbox were not required. I have a 10/2007 Puma and found initially that the floor panel nuts and bolts were in need of tightening. I then went throught and tightened all the other visible nuts and bolts and found many needed tightening up a bit.

Have had to tighten the external driver's side door handle and window mount bolts after a few days driving the Vic. high country. I expect to have to do the same with the rest of the doors in the future.

Check nuts and bolts regularly and you'll be O.K. What else are you going to do in your spare time. That's why you buy a Defender isn't it? :)

I tighten specific bolts when the creaking noises start to drive me nuts.

Thats how it started i was holding the right size spanner and socket.. 1/2 hour later i was happy... until i realised i had forgotten some this morning...

I guess its one of the reasons we buy them! :) floor panels were a little loose it was the roof, pillars and tub bolts that were the worst tho. It all started when i was "reconditioning" the door locks and found the source of an irritating rattle.. the inner door panel bolts and window regulator bolts were all loose. That then got me thinking....

Its the rattles and squeaks that irritated me.. all gone now.. it was a very un-nerving drive into work this morning! i thought i had gone deaf!
