Hi
Recently one of the tensioners on the front passengers seatbelt got smashed to bits (thanks to a heavy object that decided to move) and thus released the spring. Does anyone know if you can purchase just the tensioner piece or do you need to buy the whole seatbelt if so does anyone know where i can get one.
Thanks
Josh

Hi Josh,
What kind of vehicle do you have? If you don't mind used, I might be able to source on from my mechanic's, as he has lots of wrecked Landies in his factory. I'm in Melbourne, but will be up in Palm Cove on the 18th - 29th. Let me know if I can help.
Cheers,
Ken

Hi
Its a 96 Defender not overly concerned about used at the right price as the belt i have in it is good just has no tensioner so worst case scenario i transfer it across. So if you could look into it for me that would be great

No worries, I plan on going to the mechanic (FWD Motors in Brooklyn) tomorrow. Don't know if he has any Defenders to part out, but I'll see what he has, and let you know.

Tensioner loked up on one of the front belts on the 130, found an aftermarket complete unit for $45 on special at Repco fitted straight in with no modification and works perfectly. Could probalby dig up the model number if you're interested? Snapper

I spoke to Winston on the phone today, as he was in and out of the shop. He thought he might have some second hand ones, but was not sure. I will try and see him tomorrow, and if he has some, how much.

Well was in FWD Motors this morning, and asked about the seatbelt tensioner. Pat (the main mechanic) said that they didn't have any for a Defender. If you need me to try and source the aftermarket one from Repco, let me know. Might have some in stock in Melbourne.

No worries,
Hey Josh, we are planning on moving to the northern beaches of Cairns in October - December (so son can finish, or almost the year of school). This is why we are heading up to Palm Cove this month, to scout out houses. It would be great to have a catch up once I have the 110 up there, and maybe you could show us some local tracks. Looking forward to the move, and spending more time in the great outdoors.
Cheers,
Ken

Hi Ken
Sounds good, we are a family of rovers uncle has a 110 as well. We know a few tracks up around cairns some rather serious others fairly mild and enjoyable so what ever you like i'm sure we can show you some.
What school are you looking at sending your son to up here?

We are looking at TAS in Kewarra Beach. Alex is almost 9, and will be going into 4th grade next year. We have friends that have kids in TAS, and are very happy with it. We are looking at acreage properties from Trinity beach to Palm Cove. 1 acre plus size. I need space around me, as inner city Melbourne is too confining. Might look at land if properties don't suit. I'm a carpenter and will look for work up there once we move. Might just work for myself doing small jobs that the builders are not interested in. Anyways more info than you asked for. Looking forward to a catch up.
Cheers,

I got a replacement one for my county from CLR 4WD in Sydney. Arrived the next day in Melb express post.
Its a Securon P/N 500/30
According to the application list on the packaging, the same P/N is used on these common vehicles:
Suzuki Vitara, Alto and pre-87 Swift
Nissan patrol
VW Golf
Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler
Toyota Hiace.
The tongue fitting on the new belt was slightly different to the old one, so you have to change both the belt and the receptacle.
