Okay
I give up:(
What is the secret to screen demisting:confused:
Seems that if I select screen and hot and fan on high all that happens is that the screen fogs up
If the window is down a bit that seems to help
Can you buy a wired demist screen?

You can get a LR wired demisting screen, but I haven't ever seen one in Australia, and you'd have to bet they will cost a bomb.
Demisting improves about 100% in my '07 Defender if I turn on the air conditioning. Not sure how that would go in an '02, as I think they have special knee-height outlets from the aircon system.....

The Windows in a Defender are hopeless for fogging up, especially with 2 wet, and muddy Golden Retrievers in the back. I found that some demist wipes from Supercheapo worked on keeping most of the fog off the glass for short periods of time (Maybe a week at a time) . Also worked with Salt, Mud, Dog Hair:D I wonder why my wife doesn't like riding in the 110?

Just an afterthought: Maybe your blower fan has got blocked with leaves & crap and there is water in it, which ends up blowing wet air all over your windscreen. I reckon there is a rubber drain thingy at the bottom of the blower - it might need cleaning out, which will let any water out.

I had one on my 93 Disco, bloody fantastic although at night the filaments where vaguely visible looking through the screen at traffic lights, etc. It developed a small chip, and a replacement was $1,200 at the time. It stayed chipped, somehow passed a RWC chipped and is probably still in use by its new owner:cool:

Thanks Guys
All good ideas:)
I will have to check the blower outlet drain thing;)
Might give it a run on the way home tonight with all windows down / ac on full and heat on full to try and dry things out a bit.
Spuds , in the 02 you are correct with the knee height ac outlet all I get is cold cazoolies

X 2 with the advice on checking the drain hole in the fender top air inake isn't blocked and filled with compost. That sorted my problem out.
It might also help with any odours that you may have been blaming on the dogs. The water and rotting leaves blows an unpleasnt smell into the cab.
Alas since fixing this problem, my fan motor shorted out and a new motor is very exxy and it requires dismantling the car to access, I'm told ( I have the under-dash ghoolie cooler too).
For those who are wondering if the air scoop helps push air into the cab, they probably do a bit but I'm very underwhelmed with their performance.

Correct. They cost around $70 K. But then they do come with a free SVX attatched.
They do work fantastically though. Another SVX gimmick that is actually working out pretty well.

Hmm - anyone have a part number? Or better yet, a price from a stealer? (just the screen before anyone asks...)

My 03 Rangie has got a "wired" front window, which got chipped on a trip to the snow.
Windscreens O'Brien quited around $1200 to replace it, so I just got the chip repaired.
You'd expect the Defender version to be quite a bit cheaper, as they are flat.

I looked at one for my '98 Defer 90 back in the UK, Heated Windscreen that is. The contraption with it's wiring loom was pretty pricy, but what put me off finally was the price from the auto sparks. I'm completely snookered when it gets to electric string and all three quotes I had from auto sparks to fit the thing was almost as much as the screen and loom! Apparently bit of a job if the vehicle wasn't wired for it from day one...
Worked like a bomb on the ones at Eastnor (Winter Pack on 2009 County and SX models (UK Puma models with half leather as an option!)). I would definitely say go for it if you've got the skills!
Cheers,
Lourens

Unfortunately the Defender draws heater air from the outside, if only it could draw drier air from inside.
It seems to fog up for up to five minutes, then once it's dried out the air around the heater, it demists fine. A/C helps by drying the air.
I tried a scoop over the heater intake to try to prevent rain falling directly into it, but that didn't help.
I read an article in an old LRO mag I was given about retro fitting a heated screen to an older Defender. They seemed pretty cheap in the UK. Rovacraft don't have any and local suppliers and the RACV were unable to source a heated screen when I asked about it a week ago.
