G'day all,
I have my EBC and a friendly all-round mechanic mate of mine who will do the wiring up for me as per Sneigy's excellent post and photo's, but pardoning my lack of knowledge, what kind of diode is required? Are they all the same? Will I look like a complete wally going into Jaycar and asking for a diode?

There are a couple types of diodes:- power, signal, zenner etc. For high current operation the power diode is the best, ranges from mA to 100s of amps. Dick Smiths or Jaycar sells a good range of these, they also they have some good information on there website. Diodes are rated in current, voltage, switching speed and reverse breakdown voltage. The main thing you need to find out, is the current rating of the diode you need. Some high current rated diodes get quite hot and require a heatsink.

Cheers for that.
I ended up just going to Jaycar, explaining what I was doing and trusting the guy in the shop.
Ended up costing me 30c, jeez 4WD's are expensive to buy parts for aren't they???

Just ask for a 1N4004. Which is a general purpose power diode; good for about an Amp.
cheers,
