Hi Guys
2008 Defender question:
Today the ‘check engine’ light came on when I was driving.
I was only about 100 meters from home.
I continued around the block. The engine sounded fine and it didn’t feel any different to what it usually does.
I popped the bonnet and couldn’t see or hear anything different.
I switched it off for about 20 minutes, then started it again but engine light still on.
Left it another 20 minutes and the light has gone out.
Took it for a lap around the block and all good.

My question : Should I book it in to get it checked out or should it be ok to wait till the next service which is due in September? (providing it doesn't come on again of course)
Thanks
Gav

Geez - do we have some weird planetary alignment at the mo or something? :D My EML came on today too (as you would be aware if you clicked on the link above :)) - just driving along. The cosmos must have returned to normal though, because mine has gone away too.

I'll be getting Austral to check the error log.

To answer your question - to me, if an engine management light comes on - I'm getting it looked into - ASAP - not come September. ;)

I think you will find that your lights will go away if you have an intermittent fault and return..but it takes so many restarts of the engine to do this to reset.

one of these, NSSRM Initiative List (http://www.fas.org/spp/military/program/nssrm/initiatives/index.html)

went behind another, this caused a disturbance in the force.
