Reverse Light Relay

Rear reverse is not working on my '85 V8 County. 5 spd LT85

Have checked reverse light and rear connectors. The light only comes on when engine is running so must be wire to engine somewhere and is the light operated by a relay.

Any hints on where these items are as will tackle them tomorrow, couldn't see today but was getting quite dark.

Any tips appreciated.

I got stumped trying to sort out a reverse light on a TD5 Defender once, before I realised that the switch switched earth.

I don't know about the county, but it may be a similar set up.

I liked that idea so much, I applied it to my compressor wiring. I run battery cable to to compressor, then switch the earth through a 50amp relay, the earth wire from which goes to my dash.

This means that bar the 2cm of +'ve wire on the earth relay wiring, none of my wiring can ever catch fire.
