View Full Version : Anyone got any factory Land Rover 0 - 100 times?

I have done a bit of searching and even downloaded a Defender brochure from LRA, but nowhere can I find out what the 0-100 times are. (Hmmm - I wonder why they don't publish 0-100 for the Defender....)

Am thinking of buying an old Merc with a 2.3 litre engine, that does 0-100 in 10.5 seconds. This sounds a bit slow for a 2.3L, but they are pretty heavy I guess.

I'd like to compare that to something real world that I know and drive every day, like a:
- Disco 300TDi manual,
- Defender TD5 or Puma, or a
- Range Rover L233 Diesel

Anyone got any stats they can put their hands on to help me out?

I wasn't really expecting anything in print for the Defender, but was hopeful about the Disco or RR.

BTW - when I created this thread, one of the auto-suggested similar threads listed (the thing that tries to stop you posting a new post the same as an existing post) was the "Jokes Thread".....

From a book I have and here: Land Rover Discovery (89-98) - Facts & Figures - Parker's (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx'model=417)

300Tdi auto Disco around 17 secs
300Tdi manual Disco around 16 secs

What model of Mercedes? Sounds pretty quick if it's old. I know everyone is quick to label 300Ds but Merc diesels fly
YouTube- 84 Mercedes 300d 0-60 time on veggie

2.3? Have you found a W201 diesel?

Ah - brilliant - thanks a lot.

No it is not a Diesel. I am selling my 280CE (it is on CarSales) and have got my eye on an old W210 E230. I think it will be the same value as my 280CE but 100,000Kms less on the clock.

From memory, (can't remember from where though), the puma is something like 15.3 seconds for 0 - 60mph.

(for a stock defender you are probably better off using a calendar than a stop watch for testing 0 - 100km/h times!)

I did a 0-100 test in the NA Isuzu 110 a while back, but it was so slow even the other Isuzu nuts enthusiasts didn't believe me.

It was so slow I suspect I might have fallen asleep in the middle of it and got the time wrong.

I started timing my 110 last Monday, I'll update the thread when I reach 100

My 03 RR D6 pulled 12.5 0-100. It was super quick to 60, then a packed lunch to 100

My 08 RR V8 pulls 9.5

the RR Supercharge pulls something like 7 seconds, 0-100

0-100kmh... I use kilometres as a measure of this not seconds... sounds much better... ;) 0-100kmh in 4.0 on a cold mornin cold start and 2.5 on a warm engine. 5.5 into a headwind... :o

Time to report. NA Isuzu County 110. Out on the Plains of Emus.

On a slight uphill 0-110 on the dial which is probably closer 100 than 110, although haven't confirmed - 48 seconds.

On a slight downhill, 37 seconds.

Greased lightning!

Boy - that is a bit depressing!! Never heard of anything taking longer than 30 seconds to 100 :(

So I am feeling like 10.6 seconds is not all that bad then, as I am pretty happy driving around in my 300TDi.

I have watched too much Top Gear, as I was thinking a "normal" car gets to 100 in around 5 or 6 seconds for something reasonably sporty. That's why 10.6 seemed slow, but compared to over 30 seconds......

Thanks for all the stats.

Yeah - off from the lights ours is a demon  They really go like stink off the line for a big heavy diesel.

Yep, lights turn green, I leave just about everything for dead ( mostly because they never thought an RR would move off the mark so quick ), then by the time they catch up, was already at 60 and they would pass thinking I had backed off and who am I to tell them differently.

Next set of lights, I never give them another run! They had their chance!

The factory were going to do some acceleration timing but someone forgot to bring the 8 day chiming clock in from their mantelpiece.

Mitsubishi Magna 1999 3.5 V6 Auto - 0-100 in 9 seconds

I suppose the question is (especially for defender drivers) -- do we care ??

I certainly didn't even think of a 0 - (anything) figure, before I laid down my hard earned!

My partner RACED my 130 at a Womens Drag Training day ( I was competing the next day, and as thats all we had, apart from the race car, she had to use it), and it ran 19 second quater mile times...couldn't obviously do a BURN OUT etc... but she had fun.

Not that IT REALLY matters, but I thought I would post it if anyone was curious?

It was a 04 Dual Cab, Steel Tray and was chipped by Davis Landies in Sydney.

Went a bit better than before the chip, and had Standard wheels Tyres.
