Had the D4 for about a week now and everything is great except for one small quirk. The trip meters reset every time the car is turned off. Not only that but it doesen't matter which trip meter I select in the menu, it will reset to Trip A when the car is turned back on. This includes the avg fuel and distance calcs. Anyone else seen this?

I use that mode, so i no how far a client is. Its called Trip - Auto. you can change it to Trip A or Trip B or Trip Auto.

I've not investigated it properly so I might be talking through my... (well, you know) but I do remember reading in the manuelle that you can add the results from one auto trip to another. (If you're like me you're probably suffering manuelle overload at this stage!)

I'll check my trip A and trip B settings over the next few days to see what happens on mine.

Only the 'Trip Auto' should reset. Your saying the 'Trip A' is resetting? If you manually select 'Trip B' (via the steering wheel button), is it resetting too? Note that you have to drive at least 3 or 4 km before you'll get a reading - if your trips are shorter than that it may simply read '--' and only give you a distance readout.

Cheers,

Gordon

Checked mine out on the weekend and its working as it should be - in fact I even had to resort to RTFM to workout how to reset Trip A and B (and after reading how I felt like bit of a dill for not figuring it out myself :p)

You aren't maybe using a heavy index finger and holding down the info button for too long are you and thereby resetting everything?

No thick fingers or over zealous thumbs. It resets all trip meters, A, B and Auto every time the car is stopped. Usual commute home is 15.4km. I now know this to the decimal point because it is the same number on the trip meter every day. The car also still reverts to trip A no matter what one I select in the menu.

I fear I may have to visit the stealer to look at it. This concerns me greatly as I may go in with a simple trip meter software issue and return with engine faults, suspension errors or gods know what else once the alleged technicians have had a go at reprogramming it.

I have exactly the same problem. I took it to the dealers. Seems ike its too complicated for your average mechanic. They managed to fix it for a week and then it started again the minute the low fuel light illuminated. Something else I have noticed is that the units on the navigation system suddenly switch from Kilometers to miles even if the settings still say Kilometers. If you find any information, please share. This is not what you'd expect from a luxury vehicle.

I suspect a dud instrument cluster or 2 due to the electronics rather than a programming fault.

That appears to be the issue with mine. The fix was the repalcement of the entire instrument cluster. No problems since and everything works as it should.
