Hi Everyone,
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area but...

I'm looking to buy a Defender (I've previously owned a D2 TD5 and a Freelander) and am wondering what I should be looking for in a TD5 defender (should I even be looking at TD5's). Basically looking for a land-rover because I like them, that we can hook the boat up to and drive to regattas,, or chuck all the gear in and go camping (or head to the snow in winter). It's a second car but will be my daily driver on the days I can't be bothered pushbiking.
There is one I am very interested in, but it ends on eBay tomorrow and is interstate. Thoughts comments and suggestions are welcome.

As you'll probably know Land Rovers have their idiosyncarcies.
If you get a dud one you can be up for a lot of dosh (like any car really).

I would NOT buy one from ebay without FIRST having had it independently inspected by someone who KNOWS Land Rovers.

Don;t rush into it. Drive a few, make sure they are in fact what you want, and go from there.

If you are after a 110 there are plenty about so no need to rush.

Cheers,
I hear you on the buying sight unseen via eBay.... but there aren't that many that come up for sale, even fewer locally in SA and I've been looking for a few months. So though I may not buy this one, I'm probably going to end up looking interstate - any suggestions of places that do inspections in Melbourne and Sydney?
