Hi folks

Just hoping someone can advise me on an issue with a wireless router...

I have a D-Link DI-524UP AirPlus G that I haven't used for about 2 years, but having just moved house I want to set up access to our ADSL wirelessly.

Now I"ve connected up my old laptop and it connects automatically as it was the unit I originally set up the D-Link with, but now I want to add the kid's computers to the network...

And here's the but...after two years I can't remember my passphrase to allow access to the network...so I have two computers with brand spanking USB wireless cards stuck in them that aren't going anywhere.

Is there a way to access my old passphrase or am I stuffed? I think from memory I could transfer this via a USB thumb drive but...how???

Cheers
Mike

I think you may be out of luck,. I think by default the initial user is admin and no password at 192.168.0.1 but that may also have been changed.

You can do a full factory reset I think with the small pinhole in the back of the router but that means setting up everything again. Maybe there is still a manual online somewhere??

Reset the router through the hole in the back with a paperclip and start from scratch.

As said reset the router through the pin hole in the back. Should take it back to factory default settings. I have had to do this a couple of times.
Do you still have the manual?? If not you can download it from the D Link site.

I had a feeling that might be my only option...ah well, that'll be my entertainment for this afternoon, lol! Oh and I'll write the passkey down in a "safe place" (which I probably did last time :) )
Cheers

Hi Craig
Yes still got the manual - I just remember it taking a while last time (I got an 'expert' in to help me and ended up doing it myself!) so I was trying to be lazy :p

Write the passkey down and stick it to the bottom of your router ;)

I was setting up a d-link router up recently and for whatever reason it just would not connect with anything but WEP, (although had option for WPAx).
Also the router would not accept a key in anything but HEX and required spaces between each rather than the NORMAL colon (:) just something for you to watch out for.
