I want to relocate the A/C switch which is at the bottom centre of the console to one of the blank positions at the top so I can fit a radio remote head in that position.
I have removed the radio and the 2 screws but I cannot remove the console (circled in red). There seems to be something holding it in position and I don't want to force it in case I break something.

Any ideas?

The clips that hold it in place are quite strong, it's a bit un-nerving the first time, but you have to be quite "persuasive".

Yes brute force is the way to go!! My advise is to get some plastic tyre leavers i.e. push bike ones and leaver just below the two bolts you removed. And dont forget to close your eyes! :)

Just a word of caution. When re-fitting the console, be careful to locate the clips on the outer sides on the centre section of the console into the corresponding "" mounting port" or clamp point in the dash. If they are not located correctly they will stress this mount and push it back which might break it off or cause the clip to not seat in its holder. These two mount points are near to the window control switchs from memory. The metal clips on the console are quite strong and effort is required to pull the console from the dash facia.

I am not that confident in the longevity of the plastic mounting points where the clips fix to when seated in the main dash body. I will not be removing the console too often as I think the centre mount points won't take too much stress.

Good luck.

Agree with all you say 4wheeler.

I found it harder to put the console back in than it was to take it out.
I moved the A/C switch. Easy - the wires are very long.
I also removed the headlight up and down switch - could not see a use for that. I never vary the load that much.
The 3 microphones will go just to the right of the console mounted one above the other. Just need to wait for the metal box which goes under cubby to take the 3 radio bases.
