Hi Guys,

I did a pre trip pressure test on the Rangie last night ( coz the mechanic couldn't be bothered!) and i found a leak at a loose bottom radiator hose, which is now fixed and also a really small leak at the rear top of the engine.

The coolant was leaking out from under a bolt at the rear of the block & then running down & vaporising on the exhaust.

What are these bolts ( ther is one on either side & they sit on a slight angle) ?

If i just clean the area up & remove them, then replace with some thread tape & a new washer will that fix the leak ?

I just dont want the leak to get bigger up the cape !

Cheers Sean

Hi mate, not real sure but I think that the leak may be caused by a leaking inlet manifold gasket. Bob

Inlet Gasket/Valley Gasket. On some V8s they are seperate however on a rover v8 I think its the same thing.

Replace the little clamp rubbers too that hold the valley gasket in. You'll definately want to have that fixed before your trip.

You'll need to remove the inlet manifold to do this, so while everything is off just have a good look around!
