Fairey Overdrive Parts

Just bought a 2nd hand one which needs overhauling. Anyone know if its possible to get parts (O rings, seals, bearings, main shaft etc) in Oz?

Also anyone got a drawing of the metal bracket with sizes that is used to fit it?

As far as I know Rovers Down South in New Orleans is the only supplier of Fairy parts. They own the license and are remanufacturing new parts.

Thanks for your prompt response. Craddocks also do them (D/S agent in UK).

There are a few people on Ebay who also sell, both in Australia & UK. Would be keen to know if anyone has bought from them and if they are "genuine" parts etc.

Also if there is a distributer in Oz for D/South.

Most (but not all) of the bearings and seals are available from your local bearing supplier - I would go there first as this will almost certainly be the cheapest way. All parts are available direct from Rovers Down South, and I found them good to deal with, although that was a few years ago.

Some parts are available from Landrover suppliers in the UK and Australia, but you have to ask what they have, and it changes with time. I do not think their prices are likely to be cheaper than RDS on average, but obviously you may get them quicker.

Most parts are expensive, and some such as the input shaft which you are likely to need, very expensive. See RDS online price list.

Thanks for your imput John. I will try the various avenues. The big benefit from UK v USA is that you can claim the 17.5% VAT off the goods thus making them slightly cheaper.

I take it that there is no distributer in Australia.

Land Ranger Spares in Adelaide had a full set of good 2nd hand, not long ago.

But, I guess since you've got to pull it apart anyway, might as well use new if you can.

If the input shaft bearing tracks are brinnelled , which they probably are, you can get needle rollers with their own outer track which have an OD of the original track whichwas originally the inside surface of the gear.
You do not say what it is for but AFAIR the bearings are LT95 if it is a RRC Fairey, so are easily found.
The hardest to get part for mine was the thrust washer that goes behind the input shaft AFAIR and I had a engineer friend turn one from bronze.
You are on your own if any gears are damaged.

Just confirm you have a series overdrive and not an LT95 overdrive as the two are different and are not interchangeable.

Thanks for that however I am after all the sizes of the bracket which unfortunatly the drawing doesnt give.

What i could do with is steel thickness of angle bracket, hole centres, size/thread of nuts etc.

I will then make one up & powdercoat it.
