Hi Neil,
Had this vehicle (24310485C) come through Grenville Motors in Sydney (which it did not) numbers close to it were supplied to customers in September/October 1966.
The back view with the NATO and Warner trailer electrical connectors, number plate light and the UK style military bumperettes suggest it is a British military Land Rover. The Warner components are the two round ones - the cover comes off the connector and is screwed onto the blank plate.
The guards are later 2A but interesting in that they appear to have the recessed hole for the headlights blanked over so probably replacements. You might check if the mounting panel is behind the guard front or if they were made without the headlight support. The headlights also look British military so that infra red filters can be fitted.
Behind the grille is an engine oil cooler.
Always possible it was used on the airfield if painted yellow. See if you can get the engine number and look if there are any other Identification plates. British military Land Rovers often have brass plates with their registration numbers and other information.

Neil,
The "C" suffix in your chassis number was used between 4/66 and 4/67. According to REMLR, the Army did not use any 66 or 67 model shorties, so to answer your main question. No, it is probabley not ex-Australian Army.
The thing in front of the radiator is an oil cooler.

Well had a good hunt around today for plates etc But could only find the Engine number 25253595 G
As for the Guards they are just recessed and have been made without head light supports [is this common]
It would be so much easer if these Landys could talk:)
The more I look at it, the more I want to restore it:eek: If i can find a replacement chassis/Bulkhead who knows26648

Theres a good possibility it has come from NZ. As a large number of vehicles have been shipped in over the years [not to many Landrovers thou:(]
