The rubber surface of rhe key to my D3 split making the opening and locking of doors a hit and miss operation. My LR dealer adviced me that I needed a new key which would then need to be programmed. Total cost about $400.
A google search found Polmex in WA who make a replacement 3 button pad that fits the standard LR key perfectly. It's a bit fiddly to fit but the end product works like a charm. Total cost $34.
The link is Polmex (http://www.polmex.com.au) They do replacement pads for a range of different keys.
