G'day dearot, if you go to bushwalk- australia forum and contact /pm the head man/ Nik or send a pm to Son of a Beach, I'm sure he'll be able to help as he has developed just what you are after.

Cheers John

I bought this app. as well.

Haven't used it yet but it seems pretty potent. Too busy at the moment to find maps but I will be interested in following this thread.

Thanks John, I will send them PM later on.

Discomuzz: I think it is a great small apps once you get the right map. At the moment I am still trying to get the map.

I've got it running on my iPad, works well with a few exceptions...

A bit limited (compared with ozziexplorer) with support for different projection types.

Doesn't support maps spanning different UTM zones.

Not sure whether maps get backed up if I have to reset my iPad. Loading up all your maps in the first place is a bit tedious.

I think with a bit more development it could be a great app, simple to use and uses the gps to show you where you are on a topographic map without all the palava of some other mapping progams.

Nathan, where did you get the map from?

I know you only need a digital map with coordinates for bottom left and top right of the map.

I did scanned a wombat state forest map but since I need to combine 6 images file in photoshop I didnt have an acurate topo map.

Me too!

Looked around trying to find a map that I could try it out with.

I am not paying a 100 bucks for OziEx. maps until I have done a little testing at the local level.

I used my hema maps that I have in ozziexplorer. Basically you have to export the map from oziexplorer, covert the image type to jpg, then zip up the jpg file with the corresponding .map file. Also, make sure your file name for the .jpg and .map files match up.

If it's a supported projection and doesn't cross UTM zones then its totally accurate. If it crosses utm zones, the one i have tried was several km's out.

I'm hoping they keep making it better! Alternatively, I hope ozzieexplorer get busy...
