I have been following both posts regarding the development of each bar, but what I can't seem to gauge is whats the best choice in peoples opinion who have used (and abused) the bars?

I have not used either before as I have not had the vehicle to suit.

All comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Royce

Hi Royce, ARB have a good reputation and they look damn good compared to the ECB. Just my opinion.

I second Craig's thoughts. ECB was first on the scene, but I have to admit it is the ugly duckling version. I've had ARBs on several cars and they've always been a quality build. I'm not sure but it sounds like the ECB might be a bit pricier.

PS: Hey Craig, towed a chocked-up 8x5 trailer the other day up the Hume - didn't even know it was attached! ;). Round trip (out - full, in - empty) I averaged 10.0 l/100 - MUCH better than I got with the Cruiser.

Glad you are happy with the Disco Ron.
It is quite a suprise package for a 3.0Lt motor. I often tell people about the power, torque and economy. I'm sure they don't believe me.
Cheers, Craig

I think you would be hard pushed to put the quality of construction of one over the other. It comes down to looks, and if you are not mounting a winch, alloy against steel for weight and corrosion resistance. If at all possible, it is a good idea to see the bars in real life, before making a decision.

Hi LeaRoy,
The 4X4 Australia mag this month has a bull bar comparo in it, quite a good article, covers both the ECB and the ARB bars, plus a couple of industrial strength five post models that can take a roo a 500 klms / hr but have an approach angle only suitable for a speed bump, and also require a suspension upgrade, nuff said. Have a read.
