Hopefully I'll make it out on a club trip sometime in August/September (2010)

Well its approaching that time of year again - time to head back to Fraser Island for a few weeks of holidays :D At this stage I'll be heading up on 9th July until early August. So if you're in the area of Waddy Point and see me come and say hi. I'll should be in the Rangie.
Early reports are that there are some fish about, not many Tailor as yet, but hopefully more than last year, actually 1 would be more than last year:o.
This will also allow me to check the beach conditions etc for the club trip in October which is again we are going to camp at the Waddy Beach camp grounds with day trips to Sandy Cape and Wathumba Creek as two of the drives. The swamp/Lagoon along the beach front drained late last year but has filled with salt water and the water holes are continueing to drown cars as people still believe they can drive through them.

Do you always time your trips so you can watch the Brissie club doing the clean up ?
No doubt you just kick back with a beer and fishing rod and wave.
I know I would.
Enjoy.

Pot luck it seems, where abouts are you cleaning this year and yes I'll be sitting on the verandah having a drink of some description (not beer) probably reading a book and fishing when I get the urge.

At this stage there is a spare bed in the cottage (no snorers) - if anyone wants to visit pm me for details - I will have internet access while I'm there. The dates I'm there are Sunday 10th July till Monday 8th August.
Hope the fishing is better than last year

What will you use the internet access for?

What will you use the internet access for?
Daily emails/AULRO/facebook checks, the normal stuff you access when on holidays using someone else's computer - keeping in contact with the outside world. Unless of course I'm out fishing, whale watching or perhaps sandboarding.

Just the kayak, probably use it in Ocean Lake and the swap/lagoon on the beach front - closer to home for a hot shower afterwards. Way to many sharks to use it in the sea up here and no one to rescue me if I have trouble.
Will get some photos up in the next few days:)

Thought I'd put up some photos. I have no idea whether the sinkhole at Inskip Point is still growing but this photo was taken last Saturday morning. The other photo of interest to anyone heading north on the Island is the gutter just North of Indian Head now makes the beach impassable at high tide. This photo was taken 2 hours after low tide. I have been told that there is a bypass track that is sometimes open, but it is very tight as it winds through the trees.
There was a considerable delay getting through the Indian Head bypass track as someone in D4 managed to get stuck sideways as well as the hire cars that have little idea how to drive through the soft sand. Some interesting comments were made by the boat owners who were waiting, not so patiently for the track to clear to get their boats through, sometimes with 2 or 3 cars all linked together.
I was able to sneak through so I wasn't held up on the one way track between the Champayne Pools and Waddy Point.
The water holes at Waddy Point continue to drown cars as people drive through them with no idea as to how deep they are.

Hi Guy and whats the early morning temperatures on the island?
Hey Tim, I can't really comment on the early morning temperatures on the Island, but the first few days were freezing. As soon as the sun starts to drop in the afternoon and with the clear skies the temperature dropped - I know I feel the cold but everyone commented about the temps. Monday at dusk when I got back from fishing I couldn't feel my feet and it hurt to walk on the concrete - they eventually thawed with a hot shower, and no fish were caught that day.
There are fish about though, fresh fish for dinner last night:) thank goodness I had plenty of veges to make up a reasonable feed.
