Received "the call" yesterday from Solitaire in Adelaide - the 3.0 HSE has been built and arrives Port Melbourne 16 September. Oh the pain of waiting!! :(

On a side note a convoy of us (including two Adeliade D3's) just did the Oodnadatta Track with camper trailers in tow. Marvellous holiday and couldnt believe the amount of water up north. Even the Stuart Highway had 45cm of water over it just south of Erldunda (lat week) causing some caravaners / Falcodores some nervous moments!

Our most challenging day was probably the road from Dalhousie Springs to Finke via Abminga Ruins (not helped by 6 degrees C max temp that day; We also did the Ernest Giles road and had more water crossings than I could count. The Alice Springs car wash was a sight to behold last week with 4wdrivers coming in from all directions to clean up! Our Kimberley Kamper alone 45mins with high pressure hose to clean!

The D3's were as expected just brilliant with only issue being two blow outs on my GGAT2's. This isnt a reflection of the tyre - they were old. They had done the same trip 2 years ago with no punctures and had been brilliant since but the two that failed had around 40k under the belt (!) and so I wasnt that suprised they eventually failed given they were under a fair load. Getting a third spare wasnt easy but Bridgestone in Alice had a single brand bew Cooper Discoverer ATR 265/55/18 on the shelf so I was very lucky indeed! The two GGAT2's spares were new and were fine until we got to ALice to grab the new spare.

Pictures to follow!

Oh and the kitted out D3 (see Gallery) will be on the market in mid September.
