Well we had to come back from our annual exploration of the Islands of Vanuatu. Not before some great business ideas have been born though:cool:.

But as usual we sniffed out a Landy. We stumbled across a company that had just imported a dozen or so 1990 odd model ex Singapore military Defenders. It just happened that he had just stuck some stickers on it for rent and we showed up.

Si I just kept saying to myself its not RRC but it will just have to do. (anyone knowing Pt Villa will understand the benfits of coils springs)

So armed with our 4cyl diesel LT77 Deefer we set off.

Now for all the military boffins, these have not been de-commed in anyway and still had all black out lights, external power connectors etc.

Who knows what this "Stanley" unit is?? Its not the hour meter for the engine as that is fixed to the motor.

Looks right at home in the tropics (not to mention we felt the same way)

Had to force a smile driving a Defender;) (actually had a blast in this truck exploring)

So for $22K AUD:eek: you to can have an ex Singapore Military Defender 1990 mod with approx 7500k,s on the clock and around 1500hrs on the engine. They did come in l/h & r/h drive and some had spare engines, diffs, hoops and canvas tops as well.

Our future business plans dont involve any of these I.m afraid due to the price.

But it is good to be home as the business here needs to be looked after and I can feel some trips coming on in the RRC (TORQIT):D

We were talking today about Vanuatu - which islands do you go to over there?

Over 5 years late, but here's the answer to the the "Stanley" mystery.

It's a speeding alarm and infraction recording unit. Go past 50km/h and the unit shrills. Keep at it for a few more seconds and the number counter will move forwards to record the incident.

When the driver returns to base, the number will be checked, and he will get his arse whipped.

There used to be a wire seal in the middle tab that kept the unit honest and activated.

and a bit later, have you been booked for speeding in an old defender yet?

?
I suppose there are all the other usual questions, but, hey, we would have heard if there was any real important stuff, eh.
