Anyone dismantled one? I'm pulling one down to see how hard it will be to reco, came to a standstill with the compressor wheels.
I've undone the nut at the wheel expecting the compressor wheel to just slide off, but nothing, like its a press fit.
Anyone got any ideas?:(

Never pulled one apart, but very interested in how you get on.
I had a search last night and from the few bits of info I read it seems like they are just a normal center assy.
I did find a reference to having to twist the turbine and compressor wheels once the nut was undone to loosen the compressor. Have you tried that?

No i haven't, that could be it. I've only seen the ones where you undo the nut and it just comes apart (T25). Will give it a go,i've got 3 to play with, so can only bugger the first one then it'll be of to the turbo shop with the rest;)

I've pulled a couple apart.
The wheel is a very tight fit on the shaft. Some later ones are threaded on, but these are obvious as there's no nut. I haven't taken one of those apart.
See if gentle tapping moves it.
What is it off originally?

Was hoping you'd pipe up:), its of an Isuzu 3.0l Daily, GT2260vnt.
The nut is lefthand thread, so yeah must press fit, will soak it in crc then give it a gentle wacking:D

The rebuild kits from normal GT series turbos are supposed to fit, but I haven't tried replacing anything in one yet.

There are plenty of tutorials on the 'net on how to put an overhaul kit in a normal T25 etc, but would be great if you could post up any differences for a VNT, and especially any gotcha's that you find along the way.

Can do, will sit down with rovercare one arvo and tinker with it and take some pics:)
ITs basically the same as a t25 in regaurds to putting a kit in it, I have 2 to rebuild so if i stuff the first one, should be able to get the other right

The old T25's etc ran individual journal bearings one at each end of the shaft. These GT series turbos run a single sleeve bearing which spans through the middle of the housing.
All works in the same way, but you won't have to go digging in the turbine end to release the bearing in there.
