I have two crook bushes on a Bearmach wheel carrier on the back on one of the Defenders. Has anyone replaced these and if so where did you get the replacement bushes from?

Just fitted one of these to my vehicle, just for future info, how long and under what conditions have they been exposed to - in other words what is their use by date?

Allan, that's the strange thing I have the same carrier on my Tdi 110 and its 6 years old. Both sit out side 24/7 in the tropical heat and extreme UV, but the one on the Puma has been on for 40,000km over about 20 months. The Tdi's is 16,000km in 6 years. But both have seen at least 4000km of bad dirt tracks and their share of corrugations.
I've found I can nip up the bolts a bit tighter but they are still slack as there is play around the bolts on the Puma's door mount arm or I tighten to the point they wont move easily. The other two bushes on the body mount ends are both fine.
I've never heard of these needing to be replaced so

Hi Derek, if you get really stuck I can send you the bushes off my carrier until you find some replacements, (it's not fitted to my car at the moment).
Cheers,

Thanks for the offer Tim, but I think it all hinges (no pun intended) on whether I can replace them or not. If I can't I think I'll be looking at rebuilding the small pivot section using something I can get bushes for.

Have you thought about getting some made? Maybe try Ludowici plastics or someone that does custom bushes for cars, might be costly though :(

Haven't yet but I'm not ruling it out. I might also be able to get nylon bushes machined here from blank stock.

All sorted thanks to Stu at Rovacraft. Will be taking some measurements of the new ones before fitting so I can get something fabricated if it happens again.
Once again the forum solves another problem :)
Thanks Stu:)
