I've recently finished my new fun wheeling machine, the side benefit is it stops me wrecking the 130, that way it'll still be good for the desert trips. It has twin Lockrights, a fair bit of travel (for leaf springs) and it's actually fully engineered and street legal. Got it out to the local tracks at about 3:30 on Saturday and had it on it's side by 4:00. Got to test the cage straight away! Good thing is it's a 2 stroke so just stand it back up and you're on your way, no oil issues.

It's not a landie... Epic FAIL !

Well I'll always have my Landie but this really runs rings around the Defender (not just smoke rings either) in the bush, it's totally the opposite to the (rear locker only)TDi 130 D.C. Though it's set up for totally different usage.

Yes it could probably turn well inside the Deefer !

That's great mate. My dad has an unrestored one in fairly rough condition that is his next project. I can't wait to borrow it.

I have seen this up at Mick's a few times.

Body work is very nice for a "basher", the lifted floors seemed like a good idea until i sat in it wacked my head on my knees

I'm short and it's still a little hard to get into, fine once you're in though. It's a basher but with number plates.

Have had one of them in the family since new. They are great. Ours is an LJ50v (hardtop). Just brilliant.

great build up mate - lots of work in that. But, damn - they are so capable and fun to drive!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, it really took 18 months to build (had to leave it for a while to ready the 130 for last year's desert trip). Such a contrast to the 130 too. Really it's the 2 Lockrights that make it capable though!

My first car was the LJ80, the first change was to Desert Duellers from the death traps of the original tractor tyres.

Used to work (was employed by) Logan City Council and used to go bush bashing :) in my lunch hours at Marsden and Browns Plains before it was all built out:(

Thankfully I knew the noxious weed guys well and would always let them know where I was going.... needed their assistance a couple of times after not showing back at work in the afty... was nicknamed Harry Butler for some reason

Always looked out of place a mud splattered buzz box in the middle of the staff car park.

Amazing fun.... but not really a touring vehicle...but loved the simplicity of it all.
