Any ideas, where can I pick up a spare wheel (spare-spare... Cape York trip, you cant have enough spares...) for a Defender 130? Keep calling wreckers and such, but no cigar till now.

Have a look in the markets section - there are usually a few in there.

Just buy yourself a bead breaker and carry a couple of tubes less space needed less weight , you also don't really need to carry another spare heaps of places to get them fixed and the roads are not that bad up there

in addition to my spare, I carry a pair of .600 tyre levers and a spare case and a tube or two. Not as fast, but lighter to carry. Changing cases on 130 rims is dead easy with a couple of tyre levers. just make sure there's no grit, leaves or sand in the case as it will eventually bite through the tube. Don.

I also carry a large rubber mallet and carry the spare tube inflated inside the spare case - keeps rubbish out of the case and ensures that tube is OK.

Thank everybody, and sorry, that I was so late to get back to you,but I have some hectic days lately...!
So hectic, that I have no time to fix my REAL Land Rover (Series 3, SWB, alias: ALICE), and driving - a Ford Currier to work every day!
I need a holiday...! Starting up north in a week or so, with the 130.

Yes, that's already part of the plan... Still, I hope I never have to change an inner tube on the roadside! Bad memories of my Army days... Walter

Thanks Steve, I may just take you up on that!
Even if not, we could use some local knowlidge, extra hints for our trip into the unknown (for us anyway). Walter

this may help...more or less correct.
All 90/110 wheels are 33mm, only the latest XD/Wolf type are 20.6mm
ANR4636PM are Standard 5.5F x16 wheels for 90/110 are welded construction in primer finish, the earlier NRC7578 were rivetted construction.
ANR1543PM are 6.5L x 16 heavy duty rivtted construction
ANR5593PM are 6.5J x 16 x 20.6mm XD/Wolf are welded construction, or ANR4583PM rivetted construction
ANR5593PM is the tubed version of the Wolf rim.
ANR1534PM (20.6 Offset) is listed as One Ton rim .They are only suitable for tubed tyre usage. They are an inch wider with that extra inch going on the outside (ie it looks like a wider standard 110 steel wheel) with slightly less offset than the 5.5 inch wheels
272309 is an old 109 wheel. They are 5.5″ wide with a different offset than the anr4636.
(5.5 inch rims have 33mm of offset, the 6.5 inch rims have 20.6mm of offset).
