There are so many combinations these days mate - whats it mean anymore.
traditional manual gearbox.
Auto-shifting twin cluitch manual gearboxes.
traditional Automatic gearboxes
CVT's
etc etc etc.
I reckon ... What it comes down to is: Do i spend a lot of time in traffic.

In the modern era of cars I beleive it's considered that the autos are quicker.
Which I am unsure of myself.
But I am certain the manuals were much quicker in the older and heavier vehicles.

I'll make it Pedro - proof.
Depends on how good the driver is at heel and toe gearchanges.

But you don't heal and toe during an acceleration test. :D

I'd say it would come down to the driver. The thing is in manual you have a lot more control over revving the tits out of your engine.

I had a 2004 XR6 Turbo manual, and would be beaten off the line every time by an auto.
Even swapping cars, to eliminate "driver error" had no effect.
The short answer is, the auto got the power to the ground quicker.
