Has anyone had the misfortune of trying to fit a new antenna to their Defender?
My antenna fell apart when removing it to install the guard protectors on my 95 model, so I need to replace it. For the life of me I cant feed the new cable through to the stereo. I'm trying to use the old cable as a draw wire, but it's getting caught up somewhere.
Anyone successfully managed this? Please don't tell me I need to remove the dash to do this!

Keep the existing cable. Just cut and use some BNC connectors to join onto the new aerial.

easy as .. tape the two cables together, put some detergent (lube) on the join (Electrical tape in my case) and pull it through, if its still hard, put a little detergent on the rubber grommit..
Should pull through very very easy.

What a ballsup...
Whilst trying to pull the new cable through, the electrical tape join came apart behind the firewall, and the connector came off the new antenna :(
Down to Repco to buy another one (this time $5 cheaper than Supercheap). In the end I cheated and went from behind the instrument cluster past the vent (but well hidden in the front section) and into the back of the stereo.
Al's well that end's well I guess!

I snaped my antenna and decided to see if there was a better option.
Mobile One make a specific arial for AM/FM radios.
Fitting is a lot easier as you can start from the inside and thread the coax through then solder to the base.
Also if I snap the aerial only the wip needs to be replaced which like a CB just screws to the base.
