Anyone bothered trying to fit electric side mirrors to their defender?

Not having them annoying and I'm having trouble finding some that look like they'd fit...

Now that's a first. Heard of putting in electric windows, never electric mirrors.

But that does give me an idea for a thread.

I know there was an article in one of the UK LR magazines (LRO, LRM?) a while ago regarding heated mirrors, but I haven't seen anything on electric side mirrors

I think that they should come with a cup of concrete!!

if you are gonna do that with the mirrors could we:-
move the seats away from the doors,
and quiet them down and improve the ride,
and make them less square
and improve the seal against dust etc
and install carpet
and change their name to TOYOTA!!!!

its a package nathan, tough vehicle drivers generally dont look back too much!... maybe install small mirrors on the front guards to assist (s.1 style)?
...

OK, I will shelve the sarcasm now....bit (way!) over the top.....sorry!

My mirrors are self adjusting, many times per kilometre. Very clever actually, as the constant readjustment works much like a convex mirror, covering the entire spectrum of rear vision with every oscillation.

And I find the odd tree and clay bank useful for adjustments too. :P

I recently received delivery of my new Defender. The one big improvement over my previous Puma is the mirrors. They are slightly smaller, convex and don't wobble. They are however much harder to use for reversing, especially when hooking up a trailer, because it's harder to judge distance.

Actually, someone has shifted the drivers seat of my County to the left an inch and fitted a rather thick insulating layer to the underside of the bonnet to drown out the isuzu.

But electric mirrors? That's pushing it a bit far.

geez I always thought it was an in built anti driver fatigue safety device forcing you to stop every 2 hours to re-adjust the mirrors:p

Despite what's been said here, I've never had Defender mirrors vibrate, not even on a leaf sprung SIII, so I suggest you people nip them up a bit.

Back to topic : Convex Mirrors don't need to be adjusted. They're cheap & simple.

For what it is worth Nathan I would love electric mirrors I finnd the mirrors a pain in the arse when me and Ian change drivinng the car because I simmply can't see out of his mirrors as he sits so close to the steering wheel

Just a thought
Why not put in mirrors from D1 or D2 or a rangie, put the associated wireing in and there you have it....

Probably because they mount in a completely different way.

I actually thought of this thread today. Couldn't adjust the driver's mirror with my right hand due to severe tendentious in my arm (caused by undoing the clutch reservoir on the same Defender). So had to get out and use the left arm.

The Mercedes G 300 CDI 30.Pur Professional model has some fantastic commercial sized electric side mirrors. I wonder if it would be possible to fit these onto a defender.
