I was just having a look at my old NEC Versa which is about 5 years old .
It has literally hundreds of XP updates including SP1,2,and 3.
Is it possible to get (at low cost ) a download of XP Home with all of the updates included to clean up the program area?

There's a time-consuming way of bundling up an XP distro where you grab files from your copy of XP and download the update package and combine them onto an install disk.
nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation (http://www.nliteos.com/)
It's mainly used to install a fixed setup on hordes of computer, so a bit labour intensive for a single user, though I did a few times to setup very compact installs on old hardware.
Probably easier to install XP fresh and then run updates and it should update to the latest package, which should bundle a whole bunch of stuff together that you've install incrementally.

Hi,
If you download SP3, I believe it will have all the SP1 and SP2 info contained in it.
cheers

yeah should do
Another good way is to install everything then take a ghost copy of the partition, this way you can recover \ replace it if you need to with the ghost copy - 20mins later its back to a freash install of windows.

Do a slipstream copy of your Windows install. That uses your original Win CD and will add all the updates to a new CD.
