Hi out there in Disco-land.
Just wondering if anyone has put Cooper ATR 265/60R18 tyres on their Disco with 18" rims.
The standard size is 255/60R18. Would the higher tyres profile cause any probs such as rubbing, etc?

Regards,

Mike.

Yes, I know members here and on other sites who have them with no issues.

Yes again,
A very common upsize to the D3. Have seen them off road on many vehicles & they fill the guards very nicely:p.

Cheers.

I am interested in the accuracy of the speedo if you go ahead. My vehicle with the std tyres is about 8% fast. It is only a 12mm diameter ( 1.57% ) increase . Should get it a little closer to accurate.

Just get a stealer to adjust the speedo, takes them about 5 minutes and should cost no more that $50. they only have to plug up and adjust to the wheel size.

Hi Mike - I've had Yokohama Geolandar AT-S 265/60R18 tyres on since about 25,000km on odometer. Now at 97,000km and when I rotated the tyres a few weeks ago - no rubbing marks anywhere.

BTW, this size is on Pajero Exceeds.

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob, How have you found the Geolanders for on road / off road?

Hi Rob, How have you found the Geolanders for on road / off road?

In a word: EXCELLENT! I liked the first set so much, bought another. I got about 55,000km out of them.

On road: quiet, handle well in wet or dry, a bit more body roll on aggressive cornering - which I sort out by increasing tyre pressure to 40 PSI. They're so much better than the standard Goodyear Wranglers - it's not funny.

Off road: great over rocks, gravel, sand, but can clog up in mud a lot easier than MTs - like any AT.

I now use the Geolandars on road and for weekends/short trips off road, and for heavy duty off road, put on a set of BF Goodrich MT KM2 in 245/70R17.

Cheers,
Rob

I have only ran the Geoloander GO12 on other 4x4's in the past andthey are really good tyres. My wife runs a set on her Hyundai Tuscon and it has done 40k and there is still a lott of life let in them.

I will shortly be putting these on my Disco3 SE in 265/60R18

Has anyone had this size on and the vehicle at acces height or in crawl mode? I would like to now if there was any issues in this mode with the bigger tyre?

Regards

H

Mike, i put a set of 265/60R18 Cooper Ht plus and they have been superb. No rubbing, heaps quiet and they are much more comfortable around town. Speedo probably reads about 3% fast still.

I have this size on my RRS which has less clearance than your D3 - no rubbing at any setting.

265's here as well Mike with no issues after changing from Coopers to Nexen for a tryout. Prolly go to 255's after these one though.

Off road in all conditions the 265 have been good and also in the sandy stuff (Border Track) they went quite well dropped down.

Cheers.

Mickey Thompson and GOODYEAR MT/R KEVLAR are both availavle in 265 x 70 x 17

Tyre place suggested the Mickey Thompson are very soft and prone to chipping from rocks and stones. Any thoughts on either of these two or other brands in for Muddies in 265 70 17? Quoted $480 for the Mickey T and $440 for the Goodyear.

I was at my local Jax store today - they now have Mickey Thompson STZ in 265/60/18 for $399. Load rating 110 speed rating T.

Has anyone put these on their vehicle. Any good? How do they compare with something like Cooper AT3 or even BFG AT (much more expensive but are a LT).
