My radio in my 05 D3 appears to have frozen.. Shows an FM station but no sound and none of the buttons do anything.. Tried disconnecting the battery but still the same.. Any thoughts?

Have you tried the "hard reset" as desribed in the D3 FAQ section.
This should fix the problem for now, or it may require a download.

The hard reset:
Disconnect the +ve and -ve cables from the battery, wait a few minutes for any caps, whatever to dissipate their energy, short the -ve/+ve leads together. Connect back on the battery and see what happens.
FYI I've had to do this once early on, after the radio, etc locked up after spraying water into the engine compartment.

Thanks will try it in the morning.. Is it possible that the battery is on its way out. It is the original battery now over 5 years old.

My D3 is 16 months old and the radio has done this three times but each time corrected itself after being parked, locked etc. I was able to get it in to LR on the last occasion because they did not believe me after reporting it to themn follwoing the two previous ocassions. They wanted the D3 for another day to check it out and then said that the radio would need to be replaced. the radio has not misbehaved since and nor have I heard anything from LR.

I wouldn't tolerate a Dealer who behaved like that.
I had a SW patch ( ugh ?? ) that did nothing , and
then a replacement unit that's the same POS as
the original. Switch on , switch off , switch on ,blah blah.

Hi Discojools
Mine did the same on a number of occasions, hard reboot didnt fit it . When I went to dealer who took it out It worked fine every time on test bench, then put it back into my car then it would work again, for a while , sometimes a week or a month , but still froze . Im driving around at the moment with a freelander radio in, which is not suppost to work at all.
Im thinking there is a fault ( very small) in the car some where and because the radio is linked to the C bus system it seems to be the weak link. Just a guess anyhow. Would like to know the fix for the prob though as the radio I have in has its own quirks. ( turns off every hr and has to be turned off manually )
