Hi all,

My td5 (defender) will not rev on start up, it only lasts for a short while. It also seems to be down on power. (It’s chipped with big IC etc.)

I plugged the nanocom in (took about 100 attempts kept on saying it could not initialize contact with ecu?) and had a look at the MAF reading, it said 4.4 with no change when I drove it. I then unplugged the MAF and got the same result 4.4?

Do MAF’s normally die like this (completely) or could there be a different problem. Oil in the ecu plugs? Also is the MAF on a fuse and if so which one?

Thanks in advance Ben.

The MAF is on a fuse, which can blow due to the loom across the front of the head shorting when the insulation disintegrates from heat.

I have no definitive answer, but since you mention how long it took to communicate with the ECU, try refitting the ECU plugs and give the ECU a light tap when its running to see if nything changes.

I had a problem with my chipped ECU, (different symptoms) caused by the chip not being securely in the socket.

Hope you get an answer soon.

Cheers
