So i have got a quote for moving a car from Ballina to Albury of $500
The company is CBCI CBC Interstate - Welcome (http://www.cbcinterstate.com.au/)
Has anyone done this before what are the things to look out for so i don't get ripped off and does the price sound right as i have never transported cars before

Neither have I but I remember a previous post in AULRO where a defender had its roof peeled back & the owner never noticed in the dark. I think it took a long time to get a claim paid. Just make sure you are there to see it unloaded I guess.

$500 sounds expensive to me, surely theres some truck drivers on here know what a vehicle costs to transport.maybe if you put it on a truck and not a car transporter?

Theres a couple of companies on Ebay that specialise in this .I am also going to have to use one of them if i can find a project & its interstate . . .

I had a Defender 130 transported from Brisbane to Geelong with SMB. Cost $880, but that was door to door. If the vehicle is registered it's usually cheaper if you can do depot to depot delivery.

500 is pretty good value for that sort of trip in that direction in my experience
it cost me 600 to bring one down from darwin but it would have cost 900 to send one up at the time...
make sure you take any insurance options...
