Okay, well I was hoping to fit my new front springs in the 93 Classic, didn't get very far. I've got a 500mm breaker bar and 27mm socket. All was well until I got to the security nut thingy. It wouldn't move at all. I put a metal pipe over breaker bar to get more leverage but the security fitting thing cracked and has stripped a bit off the nut . Any tips? I've sprayed some Inox around to help but no good. :(

Put the other nuts back on and tighten them up hard and see if it cracks off then. Pat

Been there, done that!
Does it have a SS cover over the nut like they do on D3's? I had to use a cold chisel to cut the SS cover off and reveal the steel nut. The used an old cross brace and beat the crap out of it until it came loose.

cool, I will try that but I'll have to find another 27mm security adapter thing first. Just worried that the nut is a bit damaged and might be stuffed.

well it's got a cover over the nut you have to take off first, but there is a special adapter socket that fits over the security nut. the security nut is damaged now and the security socket is cracked. I wish I could just bash it but without the security socket, no chance.

Smash a socket over the end of it and wind it off...
The nuts useless now anyway....

I think I will try that after I get another security socket, need a new one anyway. the nut isn't completely stuffed so maybe I might get another chance with a new security socket. mmmm

I'd suggest that you replace all five security nuts with standard nuts.
About $8ea and an end to problems with security sockets splitting and being stuck in the bush somewhere with a flat and one wheel nut stopping you from changing your wheel.

You can buy a nut remover set. They look like an easyout in reverse.( inside out...or should that be outside in ) As they are reversed the hardened swirls grab the nut. Makes a mess of them, but there is not too much they will not take off. Best used with an impact wrench.

Hi, and thanks guys,
well my father inlaw came over and smashed a socket over the nut, with some extreme force it's finally off :) Will be getting 4 mag wheel nuts.

Don't forget a fifth one for your 'spare' also.
