Hello All,
Just wondered if anyone else has had this. My 2009 PUMA has been in a few times since new to fix water leaks through the bulkhead. It's still leaking but now if you park on a certain angle the floor mat gets a puddle of bright red rusty water. There is a channel that is just under the bulkhead wind screen seal that is very rusty looking.
If anyone else has had this: what was done to fix it, and what did you do to encourage the dealer to repair the rust?

Not sure but this is probably a warranty issue, I own a td5 02 but had a look in a new 09 puma up a port Maq last year when on hols, it had brown stains/ puddle in the passenger footwell , it looked like the air con was not putting the water condesation outside the car and was letting it run down into the passenger footwell.

Also had the usual leaks with the dash dismantled twice to fix the other ones. This particular leak was caused by water ingress through a wiring harness on the passenger side bulkhead. Water was lodging on the metal bracket behind the dash causing it to rust, then overflowing at the passenger door side. Only happened when the vehicle was stationary in the rain. This one was fixed at the third attempt!

I have this too on my 2010 Puma. So far they have replaced the seal at lower door edge, but I don't think it's worked - am getting them to check next week when in.

I also can give you Lr "water ingress" manual in Pdf if you want

I posted the orange thread on Def2, I adjusted the door striker so that the door is tighter against the seal and has been dry since (fingers crossed)

I just got it back from the dealers, they found a leak through the top of the door seal, that apparently runs down and ends up behind the dash.. Must be a new Puma feature. Still a lot of rusty water there, but hopefully it might stay dry now.

Thought all was going well with my 07 Defender. Noticed some "changes" in the paint at the inside top right hand side of the bulkhead where the windscreen mount bolts pass through. The paint looked lumpy. Got out the trusty screw driver and got stuck in. Sure enough, paint was lifting due to internal rust. Virtually surface rust, as though a clean, bare panel had been left in the air and a fine surface rust had started. Water could have come in through the bolt holes. No actual moisture detected, but the black clamp bracket actually damages the paint suface when tightened up so any moisture getting in will start the rust process. Water could also seep under the foam seal under the windscreen panel.

Cleaned the area up and painted with touch-up paint. Will let LR dealer know when it gets serviced in a few weeks. There looked to be no undercoat on the paint chips which flaked off. Will have to keep an eye on the area in the future.

Water leaking here could end up on the floor quite easily.

So is there any easy and practical way I can get a look at the inside of my firewall at home in the shed so I can hit it with some fishoil spray or something? Dont like the sounds of this behind the scenes rust story. Which panels of the Puma are actually steel? I suppose I could check it with a little magnet but rather you experienced Defender types listed the items/components for me to check! 11/2007 Defender.
