Hi Guys,

I'm looking at an 07 110 Puma, from an LR Dealer. I've never really bought a car before (Except for the uni student Barina bomb)

I'm going to ask about:
- Service History and any problems
- Fuel Breather issues

Any other questions/problems you guys thing I should ask about?

I don't know of the possibility but it might be worthwhile requesting a printout of warranty work that has been attended to.

Also use the search function for 'issues' experienced by other Puma owners - especially the earlier (2007) models.

X2. Get a full list of what's been attended to on the vehicle. It will be very close to the end of its factory warranty so it might pay to enquire about an extended warranty. Several of us have gone through Allianz - do a search and you'll find the details somewhere on here.

Check the service history as suggested by others. Common problems with the 07 model included leaking vacuum pumps (oil leak), rattly clutch, leaking transfer case output shaft seal which contaminates the drum brake. These would generally show up in the first 20,000km and be replaced under warranty. A rectification notice label might be fixed on the inside of the B pillar detailing such work or the service history.

Gear chages should be relatively smooth although they are more truck like than car like. The box might be a little notchy when cold but should improve once warmed up.

Check transfer case high/low operation and centre diff lock operation.

Check for water under front floor mats and for rust in the foot well and battery box. Water can leak in from the bulkhead seals.

Check the rear panel drivers side. If the rear door opens too wide it can hit the panel and dent it

Take the car for a good test drive. Note any concerns and ring a few dealer service centres and non-dealer specialists and discuss the concerns to see what is "normal"

Extended warranty would be good.

If you're happy with the vehicle and purchase it, join a Land Rover or other 4x4 club and enjoy the vehicle. I think you almost need to "want to own" a Defender. If not, you might be disappointed.

I have a 10/07 Defender and have had very few issues. Great fun vehicle.

Good luck.

Hi all,

Thanks for your posts so far.

I currently live in Broken Hill.

Unfortunately the vehicle I'm looking at is being sold at Melbourne City Land Rover - just a lil way out of the way for me.

I'm wondering if there's an AULRO member who knows a white 110 wagon Vic Rego WCE-418 and anything about it?

Or if you're a Melbourne resident, and know a bit about the Puma and its issues whether for a case or two of your chosen beer  (Or the cost of!) you could go and have a look at it for a fellow AULRO'an?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
