The driver was probably tired from driving from the UK, although I think Sydney to Perth is further.
It is a TIR ( Transport Internationale Routier), which means the truck can traverse international borders via a Carnet system.
Thye go down as far as UAE and Oman at least .
Makes it difficult for australian exporters to compete in say Middle East when Mcvities bics can be in Abu Dhabi in 6 days vs 4 weeks for Arnotts.
