I have a 1953 Series 1 80 which I am doing up but the power take off shaft I have is around 400 mm too long.
Does anyone know the correct length of the power take off tail shaft.
I have the short power take off drive unit housing.

Thanks,
Malcolm

About 400 mil shorter than the one you have.
It shouldnt be too hard to measure.

Good progress betsy. Keep it up. I too would like to know the correct length of the rear shaft. I have a mixed up mess of shafts here. Cheers John

Big project - sounds fantastic - will there be pictures?

I'd also be interested to know more about the bolt kit from UK - who from and what do you get? I'm bagging and labelling all my bolts as I unbuild, but don't yet have a complete set of anything with all the heads still in place.

Thanks

There is a chap called Frank Mell in the UK - I wrote to him but didn't receive a reply.

LR Fasteners in the UK also do all of the bolts - I wrote to them and received a reply but the price put me off a bit.

In the end I decided to paint most of the good bolts I had (rather than have sheridised) and buy replacements for the stuffed ones.

Classic Fasteners in Oz have a good selection at sensible prices,

Cheers Charlie

The length of the shaft from flange to flange bolted up in position was 1260, (a guess it would be 1220 with the shaft compressed) the dia of the tube was 60mm.

My shaft is around 75mm so am looking for a shaft to buy, if anyone has one for sale,

Malcolm

I have just found in the Land Rover International September 2007 that the Series one Power take off tail shaft should be 1213mm long when fully compressed.
