Hello

Just wondering if the 4.7 crownwheel and pinion off a series diff will fit into a late disco 1 diff center housing with the 3.54 24 spline spider gear set.

it will but you need to do some playing, I think from memory that the thickness of the wheel changes so you need to swap the center as well which means you will also need to change the bearings, Im pretty sure that the series diffs are imperial size bearings and the range/rover diff is metric..

You need a spacer under the crownwheel. Maxi-Drive used to sell one for $100ish. Either HTE or MR Auto may still have/make them, or you could machine one yourself.

McNamara diffs may also do them.

you can make it fit easy enough with aspacer ring we sell but it's a waste of time, way too weak,

buy 4.75's instead,

Hi Dave & all

If I buy the spacers ring (Its for my Series 2a with disco axles powered by a 2.25 petrol) will the metric bearings fit the rover 4.7 pinion shaft?

The car is not a comp truck or anything like that, just need to get the ratios correct.
