View Full Version : Flasher Unit - Where is it?

Symptom - very fast flashing. Mechanic (another story) diagnoses faulty flasher unit and predicts a fail in the Warrant of Fitness inspection.

Soooo consult trusty Hayes manual and remove dashboard (and steering wheel). And nothing in there looks like the photo in the book

Wires from dash indicator lights go to either a shared earth pole on the back of the dash or join the mysterious loom that disapears into the bowels.....

Any hints from someone who actually knows what they are doing?

If its an old type they are screwed to the firewall (bulkhead) and they are rectangle in shape

There should be a green wire running from your swich to the flasher

Check your earths too as that will also cause a fast flash

In my stage one, I found it behind the instrument panel below the speedo, not sure if it’s ment to be there? The standard looking round thing type.Have you fitted any of those new LED light globes? if you have very low power draw this can happen.

Thanks for the advice. I suspect it has been replaced before. There is an empty bracket on the firewall....All lights are working, no new bulbs. Will re-check earths and start following wires in the bowels, damn thing must be in there somewhere....

Okay, everyone relax, I found it :D

Dangling at the end of the wires down behind the speedo. Hopefully a new one will fix it
