f/lander rough eratic idle

First post ,im trying to sort my sons 99 1800 manuel ,the only way iv discovered to start it is to disconnect the carbon filter electrics hold the throttle flat to the floor and keep cranking till its actualy running ,once running to will idle low but once the electrics on the carbon filter are plugged in it wants to idle at 2 or 3 grand ,anybody out there got a testbook or nanocom or can point me in the right direction ,im at tweed heads .and the clutch takes up on the floor ,are these prone to wear on the throw out race or fork ,i dont seem to be able to get it to push in far enough ,hydrolics look new ,any input appreciated .PUGS

found a local mechanic who would look at it ,today he said it appeared to be getting a temp signal as it starts idling high then settles down but seems to be running way rich for some reason, keep you posted PUGS

That sounds like the ECU is in default mode - ie Limp Home mode. When the ECU detects a major fault (could be just a faulty sensor) the ECU ignores sensors and sets arbitrary temps and pressures and fires/fuels the engine on those default settings. Power is usually down, engine starts at high revs and then settles down bit may be a bit high, the check engine light should be on.

You need to get the car onto an engine computer and get the codes read. It may be as simple of getting codes clear to fix - at least it should point you in the right direction.
